2022 New Motorcycle Guide inc. Prices | Bennetts BikeSocial

Supply chain issues have hit the automotive and technology industries hard. We’ve heard plenty of grim tales from the likes of Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes about their missing South-East Asian chips. Motorcycling has had its problems too with quantity of models and speed of delivery being the worst affected.

Nevertheless, it’s not all doom and gloom courtesy of COVID-19, in fact the ‘nasty bug’ as it’s called in our house, has contributed to a resurgence in motorcycle sales which can be linked to a hankering to spend, spend, spend to make the most of our health.

Ducati and BMW Motorrad both recently released news of 2021 being a record-breaker for sales almost 60,000 Italian bikes sold worldwide, though not a patch on the German marque’s 194,000.

After a year without the regular EICMA and Motorcycle Live shows in 2020, both were back on the calendar for 2021 and even though some manufacturers stayed at home plenty of gleaming new powered two-wheelers from every other recognisable brand were sanitised and readied to have their saddles sat on, clutch levers pinged, and throttles twisted.

We spoke at Motorcycle Live about a lack of headliners for the 2022 model year. Euro 5-compliant machinery was all the rage (and necessity) in 2021 so this year it’s more of a new-paint-and-extra-bling kind of line-up. There are of course a handful of cracking new motorcycles among the updates and tweaks, and they will all be available in dealerships near you, if not already, then certainly in the coming couple of months just in time for the sun to make its appearance and double-digit temperatures to entice you out.

The London Motorcycle Show is just around the corner (10-13 Feb) and all but a couple of big guns will be displaying the below. Harley-Davidson and the Piaggio Group (Aprilia, Vespa, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi) are notable absentees while Ducati will be showing its DesertX for the first time in the UK.

We’ve counted 96 new or upgraded motorcycles so far for 2022 and further announcements are expected as 2022 evolves because not every manufacturer uses the winter to spread news of their latest innovations, so we’ll do our best to update this article as the year progresses:
