Honda WN7: The Wind Has Changed
Honda has officially entered the electric motorcycle arena in Europe with the launch of the WN7 - a fixed-battery electric naked bike that’s as serious about torque as it is about saving the planet. Priced at £12,999, the WN7 promises a riding experience that’s quiet, smooth, and refreshingly free of guilt.
Unveiled originally as the “EV FUN Concept” at EICMA 2024, and with a further tease just a couple weeks ago, the WN7’s name is a poetic nod to its development ethos: “be the Wind.” ‘W’ stands for Wind, while the ‘N’ refers to ‘Naked’, and the ‘7’ denotes its power class - presumably because “Windy Naked 7” didn’t quite roll off the tongue.
With an estimated range of 130km, rapid charging capabilities (20% to 80% in 30 minutes), and performance figures that rival 600cc ICE models in output and 1000cc in torque, the WN7 is clearly not just a compliance vehicle. It’s a statement from Honda and possibly a challenge to every petrolhead still clinging to their clutch levers.
An 18kW version for A2 licence holders is available alongside an 11kW option for A1 licence holders.
The full specification and all the detail will be revealed at the annual EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan at the beginning of November, but what else can we tell from the images?
There's no gear lever for your foot, but there are buttons on the LHS switchgear with + and - on them similar to DCT bikes
It has cruise control
This is Honda's first belt-drive motorcycle (unless we've forgotten the other one)
The riding position (esp footrests) looks very sporty and the hero blobs appear to be the same ones used on the SP-1 WSBK replica from 25 years ago.
Single-sided swing-arm suggests this is a premium product not a budget machine, but we also know that price is everything in the EV motorcycle market.
Honda’s broader goal? Carbon neutrality across all products and operations by 2050, with motorcycles going fully electric by the 2040s. The WN7 is the first salvo in what Honda calls its “Fun segment” - because apparently, saving the planet should come with a grin.
Whether you’re a commuter tired of traffic fumes or a weekend warrior looking for silent thrills, the WN7 might just be the wind beneath your wheels. Oh, and there’s a free seat bag for pre-orders placed before 4th November 2025.
Set to enter production in late 2025, order book is now open for the Honda WN7
Production planned to start in 2025, with first arrivals to dealerships early in 2026
