Triumph launches Gold Line limited editions_main

Triumph’s ‘Modern Classics’ range – the Bonneville-based parallel twin line-up – has been going from strength to strength for the last few years and for 2022 the firm has added one-year-only ‘Gold Line’ versions of eight models.

Featuring special colour schemes and hand-applied gold pinstriping, the Gold Line machines add a handmade element to the bikes. Triumph refers to its pin-stripers as artists, and says there are just six of them at the factory who are qualified to hand-detail the Gold Line machines.

The Gold Line range comes as a follow-up to the original Street Twin Gold Line, launched earlier this year as a limited run of 1000 machines, which have already sold out.

All the new Gold Line models are expected to reach dealers in November 2021, with a premium of £600 over the base price for 900cc models and £800 over the base price for 1200cc Modern Classics.

The first of the Gold Line models are the traditional Bonnevilles, with Gold Line versions of the 900cc T100 and the 1200cc T120 and T120 Black to be offered throughout 2022.

Both the T100 and the T120 Gold Line models are finished in a two-tone scheme of ‘Silver Ice’ and ‘Competition Green’, with gold pinstriping, gold ‘Gold Line’ badges and new white-and-gold logos on the side panels.

The T120 Black also gets the treatment, with – of course – a black tank and side panels, matching wheels and blacked-out exhausts. However, unlike the normal ‘Black’ model, the Gold Line version gains a wide swathe of silver down the centre of the fuel tank and across the side panels, again with gold pinstripes and the Gold Line branding.

All the Bonneville Gold Line models are also available with an optional flyscreen in matching paintwork.

The Bonnneville Speedmaster and Bobber Gold Line models bring the same treatment to the custom bike arm of the Modern Classics range.

On the Bobber, the Gold Line package is in its most eye-catching form, with a bright red fuel tank with central stripes, brushed foil kneepads and gold, hand-painted pinstriping. The mudguards are finished in the same red, while the side panels are black and the bike gets the same Gold Line logos as the other limited-edition models.

The dual-seat Speedmaster model is more subtle, with a black-striped silver tank, again with foil kneepads and gold pinstriping and logos. The rest of the bodywork is black, albeit with gold logos and hand-painted striping on the side panels. Both the Bobber and Speedmaster can also be had with an optional short front mudguard in matching paintwork.

Step across to the scrambler side of Triumph’s Modern Classic range and the Gold Line models continue with the 900cc Street Scrambler and the more extreme Scrambler 1200 XC and Scrambler 1200 XE.

The Street Scrambler’s scheme is matt blue with a graphite stripe on the tank, edged with the hand-painted gold lines, of course. The tank sides get brushed foil kneepads, while the side panels and mudguards are black, with the options of a matching blue flyscreen and high-level front mudguard.

The Scrambler 1200 XC Gold Line gets a two-tone red and grey tank, the colours split by an aluminium silver stripe, again with gold lining and foil kneepads, plus black side panels and a matching headlight bowl.

On the Scrambler 1200 XE, the Gold Line package includes an orange and silver tank, with an aluminium silver stripe, gold lining and foil kneepads.

Spec-wise, all the 2022 Gold Line models are identical to their more mass-made siblings.
