Petition and Protest ride against proposed motorcycling parking charges by Hackney Council

If you regularly ride in central London, you'll know that bikes are by far the best way to get around – no queueing, easy to park and most modern bikes are far cleaner and fuel-efficient that their four-wheeled counterparts.
Hackney Council beg to differ and are planning to introduce new parking charges for motorcycles, charging all bikes and scooters (petrol and electric) the same as for cars – that could mean paying as much as £6 per hour to park your bike, and being limited to a maximum of four hours parking – a kick in the teeth for hard working commuters.

Save London Motorcycling and the Motorcycle Action Group have an on-line petition running at change.org, and we urge you to sign it now. If you live, work or volunteer in Hackney, you are urged to also leave comments on how the charges will affect you so that these can be used in support of the petition.

Good, then you can also join in the protest ride. Starting at midday on Downs Park Road, E5 8JY (starting outside the Mossboune Community Academy) the ride out is a chance to show your support in person.
